Snowflake Challenge - Day 3

Day 3 - In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much.

Just one? Really??? This is a hard challenge. I hope you don't mind if I cheat a tiny bit?

1. Lord of the Rings

I just need to hear this music and I will leave the world behind and I will immerse into Middle-earth. Even after all the years it still works.

2. Sean Astin at Ring Con 2006 (Bonn, Germany)

A panel

together with Miranda Otto (Eowyn)

Together with his daughter (Sam's daughter Elenor) and Sarah McLeod (Rosie)

I went to Ring Con for some years and I met a lot of LotR actors but to meet Sean was one of the most exciting things in my life.

Followed close by
3. meeting Christopher Lee

Christopher Lee was working close together with the Tolkien Ensemble. During a concert tour in Germany he joined some of the concerts as the narrator of the story. And of course, we had to go and watch.

I will never forget the moment when he entered the stage to took place in his 'throne'. Despite his age, he had such charisma and such a compelling voice, and we were sitting so close to the stage that we almost could touch him. To remember this moment alone makes me shivers again.

The soundtrack to LOTR is so much my happy place. I played it basically on loop for a lot of my worst years in high school, and it never fails to both soothe me and... make me feel more like myself, I guess.

I'd forgotten how rich this movie was for visuals, seeing all those 'ordinary Hobbit folk' going about their business. Wonderful music and beautifully crafted movies :)

Oh definitely! If they ever do another LOTR marathon at the local cinema I'll be booking tickets!
