Rose beamed with joy when she gave him the small, crumpled sheet of paper.

"For you! I've painted it quite alone," she said proudly.
 

He smiled and looked at the colorful children-drawing. It looked so lighthearted with the big, yellow sun, the green grass and three people who seemed to be so happy. Like a little piece of the peaceful, intact world, which he wished for her.
 

"This is me," explained Rose and pointed at the little girl in the middle. "And here are you!" She hesitated for a moment and threw a glance at him. Then she pushed forward her lower lip and added softly:"These is my Mom! Sister Hannah says, she is dead. But she will always be close to me!" 

 

He could just stare at her. The nuns of the children's home gave her so much love and care how it was possible in this world. He himself could saw her all too seldom, but he adored her more than he could say. A mother she'd never got to know.
 

 He felt how two arms threw around his neck - a small mouth which gave him a wet peck. "I've to go now, Daddy! Sister Laura says, we shouldn't come too late." And she had already left the room.
 

He followed her with his gaze and didn't know what he should think about this. Anna Rose! Rose' mother! It had been only one night. But he had loved her so much. To loose her had brought him near to death. He had only been able to survive as he erased all memories of her.
  

He felt a hand touching his arm softly. Sister Hannah... "I'm so sorry! But she wanted to know it."
 

His mouth trembled while he whispered:"She's never asked for her!"

 

"No! No, she hasn't! She didn't want to hurt you!"
  

Uncertainly he looked at the nun. "Can you do it? Can you tell her more about her mother?"
 

Sister Hannah smiled softly. "No, I can't," she said.
 

 Smith stared at her. "But it's so important for her!"
 

 "You should do it! Because it's important for both of you!"
