Hello, here I am again. Movies, FanFiction and some private stuff.

TV series
- (re)watching of The Closer,, season one
It's a US crime series, probably not very different from other crime series, but I like to watch it just for fun (and I can need some fun lately)

- The Shannara Chronicles, season one
A fantasy series (based on the novels of Terry Brooks) with takes place in a far away future, though the time seemed to be turned back. There are elves and druids, orks and gypsies. There is magic, and there are three young people forced to go on a difficult mission...

First I have to say that I don't know the books, so I can't say how close or not the series follows the books. And yes, the series is very familiar sometimes and reminds of Lord of the Rings. I think this is one of the reasons why so many people are disappointed with this series. It's just a TV series and not a Hollywood movie, it's not 'perfect' like LotR, not that breathtaking even in the smallest details. You should stop to compare it with each other.

Because I think it's a good series. It was entertaining, sometimes funny. I did like most of the characters though they couldn't touch my that deeply as the LotR characters did. The end is a very interesting one; I like the idea that Amberly... but no, I'm not telling ;)

movies
- Life
A mission to Mars goes horribly wrong when the crew of a space station discovered a new lifeform.

Nothing new, I guess, and when you have already seen movies like this, you will probably know what will happen and how the movie will end.

For me, not a great movie but okay to watch it.

- Demain tout commence = a french movie // German: Plötzlich Papa
A young man, Samuel, parties hard in the Marseille area of France and is awoken one morning by a woman carrying a baby she claims is his. She drives off leaving him with a wailing infant; he gives chase to London where he finds work and raises Gloria by himself.

It sounds like a mixture between comedy and romance where everyone is expecting a chaos dad who finally grows with the challenge to take care of his daughter maybe finds the woman he wants to share his life with and ... Happy end.

Well, in parts the movie is like that, but it knows to surprise more than just once. The story is very touching, especially the two main characters Omar Sy (Samuel) and Gloria Colston (Gloria, eight years old) are a perfect team, impossible not to love them.

If you will ever get the chance to watch this movie (and if you are not just looking for action or space drama) I would highly recommend it.

Fanfiction

November started well. But at the moment I'm so not in the mood to write. But at least I did manage it to bring some words down every day (even if I did delete a lot of them later)

Private stuff
Bah. Worn out and tired. Stomach ache (nothing new, I have a nervous stomach/colon since ages). Can't sleep well since days, tossing and turning around all night long (that's new and very annoying).

Too much is going around in my mind. My life. My job. My children. My aunt (she's 94 years old) who is not doing well lately. I start to wonder if maybe I'm suffering from an autumn/winter depression?! I just want to hide in bed all day long and cry.

At least some good news on the job front: I've finally found the courage to talk to my boss about reducing my working hours, something I'm thinking about for quite a while already. She came up with an idea: a flexible employment contract, which would reduce my working hours about eight months of the years and during the last four months (the busiest season) I would work like before.

I will still have to think this through, but it sounds good to me.

Thanks for the movie and tv recs.

Sorry about the pain and trouble sleeping. I'm having a lot of pain, too. I was having trouble sleeping, but it's gotten better.

Try eating only fruit and vegetables for a few days and see if that helps. I was on a strict diet for awhile, and one of the claims of the diet was that we would sleep better. I was very surprised, but it worked! I think it was this book:

Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman

Make sure if you reduce your hours that your benefits won't change. I don't know how it works in your country, but in the US, if you only work as a "part time" employee, they don't have to give you ANY benefits like health insurance, vacation, sick leave or anything else. If you are only a consultant and don't work directly for the company, it's the same thing.
I hope it isn't that way in your job, because that wouldn't be a good thing, I don't think. You'll have to consider if you can live on less money, too.

Hope things look up for you soon. *hugs*
