In your own space, introduce yourself!

Hey, I am Prisca, and I am here because I am addicted to words.

Lol! It feels strange to introduce myself here after having journals at LJ and DW for over 12 years.

When I started with LJ, I was pretty unsure about it where the road would take me. I am more introverted than extroverted, and English is not my native language, so I was not sure if I would be able to make some friends. But soon, I discovered some fandoms and fanfiction, and everyone was so friendly that I dared to make my first posts. Better not look for them, I have to admit my English was very rough back then. I know it's still not perfect, but I hope I've learned enough to make my posts more bearable.

Today my main account is at Dreamwidth, though my LJ account (prisca1960) is still existing because I don't want to lose contact with some old friends who never made the step to Dreamwidth. Sadly I have to admit that I was not the best friend during 2020; though I visited Dreamwidth almost every day, there were only a handful of posts and even fewer comments. I hope to do better this year because I miss it to be in contact with my friends.

I would not call myself an author, but I love to write fanfiction (sometimes a poem or original ficlets), just for fun. You can find my drabbles and mini-ficlets at my writing archive or at AO3 (not updated since a while; I guess this is something else I should change in 2021).

Last year I also discovered my love for making icons. I am still a beginner, but if you want to risk a look, go here.

I understand not leaving LJ, there are places/people there who have not transitioned to here or IJ (I am at both.)

LJ was my home for such a long time; it was hard to leave it behind but there was not much of a choice after a lot of fandom activities were relocated to DW. I never regretted the step, but sometimes I love to visit LJ to dwell into old times.

I enjoy reading your fics in some of the comms we're both in, even though I don't usually know the fandom.

There are a lot of places and people that didn't transition from LJ. I'm kinda straddling both sites because of that. Most of the comms I play in are over here on DW and most of my friends that are still around are over on LJ only still.

I feel like anyone who made it through 2020 and out the other side is doing good, and we need to take it easy on ourselves.

Good luck keeping in better contact this year. We have to remember that 2020 was an 'outlier and shouldn't be counted' as the meme goes.

I remember when people started to drift slowly from LJ to DW, and I couldn't see the point. Then suddenly it became a flood. I don't think I have any friends over there now who aren't actually crossposting from DW.

Well, I think, most people on my mini-friendlist decided to stay at LJ at first, but I made the step to DW because of the more interesting/active writing challenge communities. I never regret this step.
