Movie Meme Day 1
Oct. 7th, 2018 05:34 pmSome days ago I saw this meme at
primwoods journal and I decided to give it a try, too.
Post a pic from a favorite movie a day without a caption. Do it for ten days maybe?

(Can you figure out what movie the screenshot is from?)

I'm working on card two already ;)
First of all, I need to thank you for all the comforting thoughts and comments I've gotten on my last post. It gives me the feeling that maybe I'm not that alone like I feel at the moment. Sorry, when I only answer this way, but it's still so difficult to deal with it.
In the meantime, Tiger is on the way to his last place to rest. It was a hard decision because I don't own a garden to bury him. Finally, I called my vet to ask him for advice and he gave me a number of a mortician for animals.
I decided on a cremation but told them that I don't want to have back his ash. So they will scatter it in a nearby wood. They have pictures on their website and it looks like a very peaceful place. It still hurts, a lot, but it's a relief, too, to know this. And I know, the pain will fade away, but the memories will stay forever.
Comments disabled. Love you all.

Jul. 19th, 2018 08:24 pmI am heartbroken.
Half an hour ago my Tiger passed away. Without any warning, okay, he was a bit restless last night, but I was sure that is is just the heatwave. Beside of that, he seemed to be okay.
We were both sitting on the couch together like we always did in the afternoon, he was sleeping, suddenly he miaoued loudly, and a moment later it was over.
I feel so paralyzed. He was the one who was always there for me, when my father died, when my mother died, when I sold the house and moved into my condo. He was a friend who always knew to comfort me when I was feeling bad. Now I feel so lost and alone (I guess this is the prize when you don't have much of a social life)

Short movie review
Feb. 1st, 2018 11:36 pmRecently I did watch the movie: Aftermath with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the leading role. The German title is 'Vendetta,' and I admit that the movie surprised me especially because I didn't know the original title, which fit the movie much better.
It's loosely based on a real story, a mid-air collision in Überlingen/Germany.
Roman Melnyk has lost his wife and his (pregnant) daughter when two planes collide, and he is fighting hart with the aftermath of this loss. When he finally makes a fateful decision it changes not only his life.
Other than expected this movie has (at least in my opinion) nothing to do with revenge but it's the desperate try of a broken man to find at least some peace. I can understand that some people are disappointed by the movie because they are waiting for action and 'craboom' but it's more the opposite. I myself did like the movie very much and the performance of Arnold Schwarzenegger, too.

Recently I did watch the movie: Patriots Day with Mark Wahlberg in the leading role.
The movie tells the story of the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. I think it is a good movie; it doesn't focus on the action too much or get too emotional. It's more told like a documentary. Which doesn't make it less worth watching, more the opposite.
I wrote a drabble based on the movie.
Title: He never wanted to be a hero
Fandom: Patriots Day
Character: Tommy Saunders
Wordcount: 100
Rating: PG13
Gasping for air, Tommy was startled out of his sleep; he needed a moment to realize that he was at home, lying in his bed, and that the cries and the droning in his head were just the aftermath of another nightmare.
The marathon and everything that had happened on April 15, a day that started with laughter, fun, and triumph, were already four months ago. Finally, Boston began to shake off the shock and move on.
Back to normality. Not for him, though. The horror he had seen would follow him for the rest of his life.

I'm still alive
Jan. 22nd, 2018 08:20 pmHello, my friends. I guess a lot of you are already wondering if I'm still around.
I've started this year with a lot of resolutions - some of them LJ/DW related (though I actually should know better ;) )
1. I want to write regularly = well, I'm writing, and I hope to meet my GYWO goal (to write 20 days every month). But all I manage to write down are drabbles, and drabbles and ... ähm ... yeah, drabbles. I try not to be too disappointed about of this, because I know that's not very helpful.
2. I want to be around more regularly this year. Secretly I envy people who post (almost) every day; no matter if they write, do picspams or just chat about this and that. I would be happy if I would be able to post at least once or twice a week.
On the other side, there is/was some stuff going on in my life which kept me distracted.

To all my friends
Dec. 31st, 2017 09:39 pmA New Year Wish
Perhaps a bit wiser, a bit kinder, too,
a little bit braver, a heart that's more true,
a touch of believing I've not known before,
in joys I'm receiving a little bit more.
A little more anxious to reach out my hand,
despite hurt or problems to still understand,
accepting the heartache that life often brings,
a little more beauty in life's simple things.
