Celebreties I've already met
Jan. 1st, 2025 01:28 amI started visiting Ring Con (today Magic Con) in Bonn/Germany, in 2002; since then, I have seen/met so many interesting actors. Lots of them come from the Lord of the Rings movies, but some others do not. For the first years it was unthinkable for me, to miss a con, but then the general interest in LotR started to vanish and other fandoms took over the con. I lost interest, and only goes now and then today, when some interesting gueststars are announced. Like Richard Armitage, who was there in 2024. (Thorin / The Hobbit)
Some days ago, I talked with a friend about it, and yes, it was difficult to remember all the guests easily. So I decided:
Why not making a list of all the great people I've met? So, here we go.

Lands Of Magic - Sig Tags
Feb. 13th, 2024 12:21 pmI always wanted to have a post with all my favorite sig tags from the last years for
lands_of_magic because this makes using them so much easier.
There are 41 sig tags in total at the moment, and I will probably add more during the next round(s).
Here we go:

Challenge #12 - Tell Us about a Personal Win.
My personal win in 2023: I finally retired.
My fandom wins in 2023: I created two new fandom challenge communities, open for everyone, which are still active.
While you can join at
Challenge #13 - Make a rec list (of fanworks)!
Because I did read lots of small fandom works over the year, and it's just too hard to decide, I will not rec something here.
But I will leave you three TV series which are worth checking out.
- Jeremiah (TV)
It was a series from J. Michael Straczynski (2002-2004); sadly, it only ran for two seasons and ended with a cliffhanger. If you don't mind this, you might want to check it out if you are interested in a dystopian setting.
All adults died because of a virus about 15 years ago, and the young survivors are still looking for a way to save their future.
I know this sounds not new (but remember, back then, viruses, vampires, and zombies were not so overused themes). The cast is great: Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Luke Perry, and Sean Astin; the story is intriguing.
- Coroner (TV)
It's a series of four seasons I only discovered some time ago. The series tells about a middle-aged doctor who has given up her job in the emergency room to work as a coroner after she lost her husband in a tragic incident. He died in front of her (and her son's) eyes in a swimming pool, leaving both of them with a heavy trauma.
The series mixes up private life with the job, and yes, I will admit, sometimes the private stuff seems to be a bit too much drama, but the cases at her job are interesting enough to continue watching.
It's nothing entirely new, but I recommend looking if you want to spend some relaxing time with a new TV series.
- The Good Doctor (TV)
The series tells the story of a young, brilliant, autistic surgeon. Though it is 'only' one more Doctor series, it is very interesting because of the autistic aspect. I admit, I don't know how accurately the series treats the autistic clinical picture, but the acting is brilliant; very touching, sometimes a bit funny.

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a show, a specific TV episode, a storyline, a book or series, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much.
I have thought about this challenge for a while and finally decided to go with Sean Astin. Since I watched 'The Lord of the Rings' he has been one of my most famous actors.
Yes, I will admit he has done some cheesy movies, but there are other movies / TV series that are just great, and I can watch them repeatedly, even after all the years. Like Jeremiah, where he played Mr. Smith in the second season (after this, the series sadly was canceled, which still makes me sad because the story of Mr. Smith is for sure not told to the end. Luckily, we fans always have fanfiction to fix whatever needs to be fixed. ;)
I will add a video I made aaaages ago; don't expect too much, there are only some screenshots I put together, accompanied by a score from 'Touchdown'. Sean's most famous roles for me back then; most of them still are.

Search in your current space, whether brick-and-mortar or digital. Post a picture or description of something that is or represents:
- Something that makes you
My pinboard at the wall over my desk. It's stuffed with little memories, like a convention wristband, a golden star an online friend sent me for Christmas, a card I got from my best friend when I didn't feel well with the text 'Everything could be so easy..." and a card, showing a beach chair at sunset.
- A fandom place you would like to visit
That's an easy question. Middle-earth - The Shire. Having breakfast with Merry and Pippin. Sitting in the garden together with Sam.
- Something from a favorite TV series or movie from your childhood.
This is sooo long ago, and I was more a teenage girl than a child when I watched 'Gone with the Wind' for the first time. It's still one of my favorite movies. I own a special edition with lots of extras, cards, and a small infobook on Blu-Ray. And the Scarlett Barbie, wearing the green dress, Mammy made for her when she went to visit Rhett in prison to ask him for some money. My precious (grins... wrong movie, I know)

IceBreaker Challenge! Tell us about yourself. Post your answer to today’s challenge in your own space and leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I am Prisca.
Prisca was the name of my grandmother, who died over 40 years ago, but she still is so close to my heart. When I started to be active on the internet (about 20 years ago), it was so easy to choose my username.
I am not very talkative when it comes to RL stuff, but I am more or less active in fandom. I write short fanfiction (sometimes some original stuff or even a poem), and some years ago, I started to create icons. Both just for fun; I don't expect that many other people will be interested in my stuff because my favorite fandoms are not the most popular ones: 'The Faculty' and 'Jeremiah (TV)' forever.
:::
And because it is fun, here are three random generator questions:
1. If you could have any person become a member of your family, who would you choose?
Elijah Wood, because he is such a funny, interesting guy.
2. Is there any place that you have no desire to visit?
All countries that are making war against others and against their own population (or parts of it only because they don't fit into an archaic view of world).
3. What's something that you know you should start, but haven't?
Eating more healthily. Starting some sporting activity. Easier said than done. But giving up is not an option.
Snowflake 2004 - Challenge 3
Jan. 6th, 2024 10:30 pm
Create a wish list of fandom things (podfic, graphics, playlists, canon recs translations, research help, vids, sky's the limit!) that you'd like to receive.
This challenge is always tricky because I don't like to ask others to create something for me. So, why not choose a different way?
1. My first wish is not for myself but for a community, I mod for a while already.
Today we are open to all kinds of fandoms/fanworks. We also appreciate real-person work and original work. But sadly, the LJ Community is on a hiatus because of the lack of activity.
Also activity at Dreamwidth is gradually decreasing during the last one/two years. While I can understand that people start to move on after a while, it still feels sad. I don't want to give up a community which already exists for 13 years.
So I ask you: If you are looking for a low-pressure community that offers 4 (sometimes 5) challenges throughout a month, come and check us out here. If you decide to stay (for a while), even better :)
:::
2. I am always looking for interesting TV series/movies and audiobooks. Everything but hardcore horror; and without animals getting tormented.
So, tell me about your favorite TV series, movies, and audiobooks. What did you enjoy most during the last months/year?

In your own space, set yourself some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
Let's start with some fannish goals. Not set in stone, more like a reminder.
1. I want to go back to writing more regularly (and I have to admit, I haven't written at least one fannish word so far in January. But I will, soon, maybe today?!)
2. After the low year 2023 writing-wise, I've set back my
3. I want to do more icons again (and finally finish my
4. I want to keep running my three challenge communities (one of it an oldie, the other two I created last year). So much fun.
5. This might be the hardest goal for me: I will try to be more active when it comes to commenting. So often I stumble upon some great icons or a cute fic, but I only leave a comment rarely. Can't even say, why. I never was a very talkative 'girl'. But it can't be so difficult, to leave at least a 'great job, I like your ficlet', right?
And now some more private goals. I know, I should try to live more healthily. Easier said than done. But I am willing to start with some baby steps again.
1. Eat healthier - more fruits and vegetables, less pizza.
2. Drink more (water).
3. A little walk every day.
At the end we will have to wait and see, where the road will take us. I have learned over the years that it is never a good idea to put myself under too much pressure.
It's that time of year again! The time when ghouls and goblins gallivant through the streets, and wicked witches ride through the skies! It's spooky season!
